Shoes are often thought of as a necessary evil. Many tend to forget that these are devices used to protect/repair hooves and/or legs. Gaits can be changed with the use of shoes, but that is not always what is best for your horse. For us to apply shoes we must feel that they will improve the horses' quality of life. This may not appeal to everyone but it is a part of our philosophy. We have many horses who sport shoes in our "family". When shoes are applied, we offer steel or aluminum, nails or glue, and hot or cold. For a horse suffering from a more serious injury or internal problem we recommend the advice of a veterinarian when prescribing treatment. Often your veterinarian may have up to date radiographs and/or medications which aid in more effective treatment.
